Mother of pearl is inset into the silver powder dusted lattice set between red lacquered pillars forming this art-deco era lacquer vase enclosed in the original signed wooden box by Iwamura Sadao (1912-1944). A brass insert which rests perfectly between the four corners allows for flowers. The strong geometric patterning embodies the Art Deco style so popular in Japan in the 1930s. The size of Kamakura-bori Deep Kashi Bowl: 10 3/4"Dia x 1 3/4" High. About 5/8" Thickness. This is prettiest of Kamakura-bori Kashi Bowl ever seen. The bowl is from Showa 13 th, 1938, 76 years old. SOLD Antique Japanese pair of lacquer trays with a black exterior and deep red lacquer interior. The sides of each tray are pierced with gourd shapes on their sides, lines, and small holes, and the rim is dotted with gilt lacquer. One tray is slightly smaller than the other, so they may be stacked and stored away. A wooden box is included with kanji on its lid.

The lid has two mixed metal fans incised with an old immortal man and foliage. The box has a free-sliding drawer and its top has a metal ashtray lined with glass. It sits on a lacquer tray with mixed metal handles. Taisho period (1912-1925)

Sold Antique Japanese gyosho bako (merchant's box) with a red-orange lacquer (negoro) finish and iron hardware with hirute shaped drawer pulls. It features three drawers on its front, two with iron lock plates, and a hinged door at its very bottom with a sideways facing handle over crossed hardware, with three extra drawers inside.

Low relief lacquer decoration on both sides. The condition is good, one small area about 1" long old separation in the natural Kiri wood.
