SOLD. Seated Jizo Bosatsu, the hands placed centrally on the lap holding a sacred jewel (Jp. hoju), sculpted figurally from a large-grained tawny-hued sedimentary stone. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1700. Very minor old loss and softening of the lines and contours overall, with light lichen accumulation.

This item was made in the Meiji era in Hirosaki prefecture, Aomori prefecture. Almost unused. All sashiko are hand-stitched. Indigo dyed cotton and shibori (Tie-dye) & sashiko stitch are wonderfully beautiful.

The lining is silk safflower dyed. There are some stains, and a part of the embroidery thread is peeled off. There is a small hole. But they don't stand out. Recommended for your antique textile collection.
