Top and bottom drawers have central hand forged kiri leaf mon (family crest) over iron locks. Original finish in stunning warm translucent lacquer tones.

SOLD A stunning two section Japanese tansu from the Yonezawa region, made with Kuri (chestnut) front and Sugi (cedar) burl frame. The iron hardware is highly decorative with floral elements and incised cherry blossom mon (family crest) into each round lock plate, as well as attractive mokko "melon" style handles for each drawer. Top section has side lockbox with two drawers within. Beautiful lacquer finish. 19th century.

Sold, Thank you! Sitting demurely, legs folded with her back to the viewer, an oil painting by Yoshii Kosaburo dated 1937 and encased in the original period wooden frame. Oil on canvas, the painting is 15 x 18 inches (38 x 46 cm), the frame 21 x 23-1/2 inches (53 x 60 cm) and is in fine condition. The frame has marks and wear typical of age. It comes with some period documents (Japanese) on the artist.
Yoshii Kosaburo was born in 1899, and initially studied under Imperial Art Academy Member Nakagawa Hachiro...

This piece was awarded at the prestigious event. It is 11 x 11 x 4-1/2 inches (28 x 28 x 11.5 cm) and is in fine condition.

$4,750.00 Antique Japanese small choba tansu (merchant chest) made with attractive keyaki (elm) burl front panels in a reddish brown lacquer finish. The style of handles on each drawer is called "mokko" or "melon shape", accented with decorative iron hardware in each corner. The sliding doors in front lock in the center.
Unusual piece in wonderful condition. Solid Keyaki wood. Very heavy and gorgeous.

$800.00 This is Yogi of the great high quality of Edo period. As for this, the Kaiki- silk of the high quality is used. As for this, silk Katazome is used for the part of the shoulder. It is dyed with an indigo plant. And it is a cover for the shoulder regions. As for this, around four holes from 2cm to 3cm are seen in a Katazome part. The green Tumugi- silk thread is basting thread.
In this Yogi, good-quality silk spun by hand is used. And it is very thin...

SOLD. Standing Sho-Kannon Bosatsu, the left hand holding a long-stemmed lotus bed and the right hand forming the semu-in mudra of fearlessness, sculpted in relief from a salmon-hued granite. Dated on the right-hand lateral surface to the third year of the Enpo Era (1675), early-Edo Period. Minor surface loss, with overall softening of the lines and contours. Light lichen accumulation.
