Sold. Thank you Nora Vajrapāni (Sanskrit: "Vajra in [his] hand") is one of the earliest-appearing bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. He is the protector and guide of Gautama Buddha and rose to symbolize the Buddha's power.He also is know to protects the wearer.
Condition: Natural age patina. No repairs.

Meiji period, 1880's, 26" high, 16 1/4" wide, 3/4" depth, two(2) ladies preparing traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, silver geometric design border on black Lacquered panel inside black lacquered frame. There are some very small lacquer losses around the frame, shows very thin separation on wood panel in the back, but does not show in front, stains on the lady's hair.

The Kura
Sold, Thank you! A ghoulish character from the Otsu-e pantheon, the Oni no Nenbutsu, a devil in priests robes, stands grinning, hammer in one hand to bang his bell and a ledger in the other in which are noted all the peoples sins. This figure is carved of wood and covered in lacquer and mineral paints. Dating from the 19th century (Later Edo period) it is 13 inches (33 cm) tall. There are some losses to the pigments accentuating the antique feel.

SOLD Antique Japanese unusual single-section clothing tansu, with Kiri (Paulownia) wood front drawers, Sugi (cedar) interior, with a Hinoki (cypress) wood pair of slatted, locking safe doors. Attractive, natural woodgrain with original dark finish. This piece comes from the Kyusu area of Japan and is rarely seen.
Meiji Period (1868-1912)) Size: 52" L x 15.5" W x 39" H Belt hook nicely carved in the shape of a dragon. Light green jade. China, 19th century or earlier. Length: 9,2 cm. Remnants of soil encrustations suggesting a rather long stay underground, otherwise very good condition.
