DESCRIPTION: A large, boldly colored Chinese ancestor portrait featuring seven generations of mandarins and their wives. Such paintings were commissioned by descendants, and this one is executed in classic ancestral portrait style with the unsmiling subjects facing directly forward and seated on chairs with rounded backs, the men with hands and shoes showing and the women with their robes completely covering hands and feet.

Another Tea kettle from our tetsubin collection: a cast iron Tea kettle tetsubin from China, marked 'Kangxi, 40th year (1700) and the name of a maker 'Kichinichi zo'.

It has some traces of age and some rust inside. Great item with sophisticated atmosphere.

A rare carved jade of an old man with a beard. Half of the jade on top is translucent and the bottom bottom half opaque. It is from the Hunan culture which was absorbed by the Han as their control spread over the whole of China. Size: H. 3.8cm. W. 1.3cm. See last three photos.

Vintage Japanese cylindrical form stoneware lidded mizusashi (water vessel for the tea ceremony) with horizontal ribs covered in a light creamy tan colored glaze with dripped patterning that stops short of the flat foot and recessed base. The interior and underside of the lid are coated in a glossy brown glaze. 20th century. Stands about 6 5/8" high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. This piece is from a Tucson, AZ estate.

Fantastic tea bowl by Kingyoku Nakata, the best specialist of Chibu art, made 40 years ago.

This bowl is designed with a granular white painting called 'Shiro (white)-Chibu, which is very rare in Kutani. (Ao (blue)-Chibu was made more often. Please take a look on an Ao-Chibu Tea Bowl - our item # 0188)

Beside the Shiro-Chibu there is a golden arabesque design, which is called Kin-Karakusa.

Framed painting of a warrior with a drawn sword, holding a severed head in his hand. On his back a flag with the image of a skull. Perhaps one of the heroes of the Taiheiki, such as Endo Giemon Masatada. But between Kuniyoshi and other Utagawa artists, several series of heroes were produced. Unsigned. Tibetan Himalayan Heavy large carved wood Manuscript/script Cover, some of the gold and Polychrome finish still remain between low relief carved design, 27 1/2" long, 10 1/2" high, 1 1/2" thick, weight is heavy and one(1) large size of wood panel was used. One end is carved with polychrome and gold finish, and the other end is not carved. There are some yak butter stains on wood, and rounded corners with age. The condition is good, no damage or restoration.

Chinese Export Famille Rose Porcelain oval shape Barber's Bowl, 12 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" deep, 2 3/8" high, early 1820's, with overglaze Famille Rose flowers in the center inside the deep bowl.
