SOLD Antique Japanese two-section tansu from the Yonezawa region made from chestnut wood "Kuri", comes with a stand. Its large iron locks are incised with cherry blossoms and scrolling vines. Each drawer has mokko (melon) iron handles mounted on pierced backplates, and has pierced floral motif corner hardware. Its lockbox and the two drawers concealed within open with dual fish shaped iron pulls.

The underside has a rugged foot outlined in a single blue ring, and swirling patterns. Dates from the Ming dynasty. Most likely recovered from a shipwreck.

A gilt enamel censors and offerings lay before him on the altar table. The rim is decorated with chrysanthemums, and tiny scenes related to the main depiction. Mark of Kangxi in cobalt within a double ring, with three floral scrolling vine motifs. Ching Dynasty, dates from 1875-1908. Has original purchase receipt from November 30th 1991 for 15,650 HK Dollars.

A complete set of four Japanese woodblock prints in the original presentation folder by Sadanobu III Hasegawa (1881-1963), published around 1950 by Uchida. Carefully printed with embossing and shomen-zuri, laid down at upper corners. Condition: fine, only paper mats with few short tears.
