SOLD. Standing Jizo Bosatsu, the right hand holding a shakujo (crozier) and the left a hoju (sacred jewel), sculpted in bold relief from a grayish igneous stone. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1725. Minor old loss, with softening of the lines and contours overall. Light lichen accumulation.
Height: 52 cm A sizable Jizo stone with good age and abundant charm.

Sold. An extraordinary, wooden figure of a tiger with a very long tail, sitting on a rockwork. It has an almost humanized facial expression and the mouth corners are showing small canines. It is painted with green and different brown pigments. Dating to the Joseon dynasty. Condition: partially lost or agglomerated coloring, some pigment fissures, few small cracks, one fang is worn. Dimension: total height: 35 cm x c. 15 cm x 17 cm.

SOLD. Daikokuten, arguably the most popular of Japan's shichifukujin (seven lucky gods), figuratively sculpted from a dense, gray-hued volcanic stone. Late-Edo Period/Meiji Era ca. 1875. Excellent condition, with only very minor old loss and slight surface pitting overall.
Height: 60.5 cm An expertly sculpted Daikokuten stone, grandly scaled and in virtually pristine condition. Outstanding.
