Upper portion of a standing Jizo Bosatsu, the hands forming the gassho adoration mudra, sculpted in relief from a brick-hued igneous stone. Early- to mid-Edo Period ca. 1700. Old loss, most notably of the entire lower half.

Standing Jizo Bosatsu, the hands bearing aloft a hoju (sacred jewel), sculpted in relief from sandstone. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1775. Very minor old loss, with good lichen accumulation overall.

Fantastic antique Japanese Kutani ware sculpture of one of the fortune deities known as Hotei. The figure is carrying a child who is trying to clean the ears of Hotei. Hotei is interestingly dressed with motifs of dragons and scrolling clouds, inspired by Chinese brocades. Our Kutsu / gutsu gata ( shoe shaped ) tea bowl is made of iron bearing Karatsu clay.

Its fastly but expertly thrown body is glazed inside and outside, with the exception of the bottom including the roughly cut foot ring with an ash glaze which has some Feldspat mixed in glaze. The decoration under the glaze is painted in dark brown iron bearing clay directly on the body - flying birds.

An Exhibited pottery box by Watanabe kunio enclosed in the original wooden box titled Iro-e Kin/Gin-Sai KiKaMon ToBako. This piece was featured on the exhibition invitation at the Marue Gallery (included). It measures 9 inches (23 cm) across, 2 inches (5 cm) tall and is in excellent condition.
