Antique Japanese maiwai, katazome stencil dye on cotton, padded and in excellent condition, 51"(4'2") x 51", circa Meiji (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926). This maiwai is old but has been well maintained, pretty clean condition without any odor. One damaged area (did not go through to the liner) was repaired with very small stitches (photo #9). The photo #10 shows the area before it was repaired with stitches and filled with red color.

Very large Chinese folk art bamboo basket with a removable inner shelf. The "double happiness" symbols on the side indicate it might have been intended as a wedding basket. Dates circa 1900. 28"H x 19" diameter (23" across the handle). Very good overall condition with some loosening of the bamboo at the bottom.

Qing Dynasty opium den lamp made with burner bowl. This style lamp was used to illuminate Chinese opium dens and was often their only source of lighting. These lamps were also used to heat the opium tar housed at the end of a long opium pipes. The burner bowl is stoneware with the inside glazed to hold the oil and wick (wick is new). Pair of Chinese Tang (618-907) to Five Dynasties (907-960) olive-gray glazed Yue ware 10-petal foliate lotus-leaf shaped shallow bowls with flat bases. A very attractive, well patinated bronze censer on lotus form stand with ruyi - shaped feet. On the base is the six character seal mark of the Xuande Emperor but this item was made later, during the 17th Century - late Ming or early Qing.
