Fine Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Meiping
This qingbai glazed meiping was made during the 13th - 14th century, the latter part of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or the Yuan Dynasty (1279 - 1368). It is quite heavily-potted and coated in a finely-crackled pale blueish-green Qingbai glaze. Height 29.5 cm (11.25 inches). Sold Japanese bronze sculpture of a tanuki. It represented as a Buddhist priest, wrapped in a cloak and lying on a mokugyo (a percussion instrument made of a fish-shaped wooden block and a stick, used to accompany the recitation of sutras).
The tanuki (raccoon dog) is a legendary Japanese animal with magical powers and can transform itself. Mischievous, It uses its long tail to curl up, hide or to confuse its enemies.

This extremely rare large stone tile dates to the Jin Dynasty (AD 1115 - 1234). The carving is of fine quality and features a bird standing with outstretched wings in a circle, itself within a square panel. It was undoubtedly once part of a series of similar stone panels (indeed we have another from the series, see also our item stock number MA282). Height 53 cm (20.75 inches), width 48 cm (19 inches), weight 18.05 ... A bronze plate with shaped rim, beautifully decorated, in gold lacquer with sparrows among bamboo and plants. Base signed "Kyoto Okuda sei". Dimension: diameter: c. 20.3 cm, c. 1.2 cm high. Condition: fine, only minor wear and lacquer loss.

Traditional scroll painting of what I am assuming is the Chinese ideal of a courtesan putting her make up on in morning. This was painted in the year of the Fire Rat- 1936 or 1996. I would tend put this at the earlier date because the paper shows some age and this has been newly remounted, as well as the style is evoking feeling of a French boudoir. W: 33cm /13in x H: 72cm/28.5in- mounted W: 56cm/22in x H: 138cm/54.5in.
