This fine & rare pottery cup was made some 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220), or possibly a little earlier. It is made from a fine-grained grey pottery. This inner mouth and outer surface have a smooth burnished surface making it a real pleasure not only to view, but also to handle. The surface colour of the pottery varies a little in places, a result of uneven conditions in the kiln during firing. Height 7.5 cm. The... Interestingly it is made in several sections that have been luted together. The mid section is decorated with a scrolling floral pattern, below which is moulded leaf decoration.
