From an ancient Ayuthaya Collector: 18/19th Century Bronze UTHONG BUDDHA Subduing Mara. Fine original, old patina. Size: Height 31.5" x width 23" x depth 11.5" This Buddha is one of the 3 which belonged to the collector and represents the Thai ideal of possessing the 3 most desirable images,i.e UTHONG,CHIENSAENG and SUKKOTHAI.

A frog (Jp. kaeru) sculpted from a gray-hued igneous stone. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1800. Very good condition, with only minor old loss as well as desirable lichen and moss accumulation.

This interesting pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province. It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery. The reddish-brown surface colour is from the iron-rich burial soil.

Japanese Meiji carved bamboo okimono figure of a standing Daruma (also known as Bodhidharma), the body wrapped in a draped robe covered in folds. A fly whisk emerges from the hidden folded arms and extends along the side of the head between one of the elongated earlobes with hoop earring and the furrowed brow. 8 3/4" high.
