SOLD Antique Chinese brush rest made of black glazed porcelain in the form of a lingbi scholar rock. Sculpted and drilled with holes and windows like a miniature version of the prized lingbi stone. This brush rest has five peaks, creating four areas in which to lay one's brush when it's not in use. Fitted with a carved hardwood base. The flat underside is carved with a six character Qianlong mark.

This is a rare antique Mizusashi (water jar) of Japanese Ofukei ware covered with black lacquer lid decorated with wisteria entwined with pine trees which was made in 18-19 centuries during Edo period (1603-1868).

The figure is shown turned slight to one side while holding a wish-fulfilling scepter (ruyi) in the crook of his right arm. The carving is coated in a deep, transparent reddish lacquer. Flowers of the four seasons blossom in a cacophony of color over the entirety of this Kutani vase signed from the pre-eminent Kaburaki (Kaburagi) studio dating from the opening of the 20th century. The imagery is exquisitely performed with over-glaze enamels on a sheer white ground. The vase is large at 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition, with some wear to the gold rim. Sold, with thanks! A unique Yin and Yang vase splashed with two moons, one dark, one light, by Hamada Shoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yakishime Kakiwake Henko. The Ma or use of blank space (here the Yakishime raw clay) is quite unusual for this Mashiko potter. Kakiwake refers to the application of two glazes separated. The vessel is 23 cm (9 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
