This is an authentic Nephrite jade carving of a mythical beast known as a Bixie, as those of you who collect in this area will recognize. The piece measures slightly less than 3-1/2" in length and is1-5/8" in height. The stone is a pale celadon in color, showing substantial alteration in the hindquarters. There is a minor loss at the tip of (one branch) of the tail. Fully carved, with fangs, snout and paws all clearly defined. A very dynamic carving, dating to the late Qing dynasty...

This small carved jade plaque was certainly the element of the central part of a Ruyi scepter, a symbol of the power of Chinese leaders. The plaque is finely carved with deep patterns, we can distinguish a bat, a symbol of happiness, and a vase of lotus flowers. The vase could mean abundance and the flowers seem to be Buddhist Lotuses unless they are immortal peonies. On the body of the vase is represented the intertwined feminine-masculine symbol, Ying and Yang...

Simply elegant wood panel depicting a bird perched on a rock beneath plum blossom in the background there are mountains and trees. The carving is in perfect condition with traces of original blue pigment- please note the delicacy in which the bird’s legs were carved as well as the bare trees beneath the mountains and bracken ferns at the bottom of the foothill (if you use your imagination they look like high rise apartments). The handles of this type of cup were most often damaged and restorers have partially reduced or even completely eliminated them.
