Large Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Saddled Horse with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery horse was made during the latter part of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". Its surface has been cold-painted in a creamy-white pigment, good traces of which still remain. The horse stands upright and alert. On its back is a large integral saddle.

Large Chinese Early Tang Dynasty Pottery Horse with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery horse was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a grey pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". The horse stands upright with its head and neck turned very slightly to its left.

Height 39 cm (15.5 inches)...

Coral red tea bowl and saucer, the bowl with rocky landscapes in blue, green and black in reserves, the saucer with the same decoration depicted on a paper scroll. The black lines are hand painted like the rest, so probably Chinese, Jiaqing period. The lotus scroll work on the tea bowl with traces of silver, now oxidized. The tea bowl with a kiln mark, and a simplified six character mark to the saucer, probably for Jiaqing. Diameter of cup "3 ½ / 9 cm and of saucer "5 ¾ / 14.5 cm...

Chinese Yuan dynasty blue and white bowl. 16,3 cm diameter. Bowl in broken condition on restorations.

A very rare genuine Silver OPIUM BOX-ROLLER-DRUM, QING DYNASTY, 19th Century, China, with beautiful refined engravings of flowers, a bird and foliage. Size: height 2" x 1 1/2" diameter (5 x 4 cm. diameter). Base is stamped in Chinese. Very difficult to find nowadays, Opium Collector's item!

A refined PAIR of gilded and matching Chinese wooden relief carvings, QING DYNASTY, 19th Century. Intricately hand carved scrolling, foliage, birds and flowers. Size: width 9" x height 3" x depth 2". Good condition.

A fine QING DYNASTY solid wooden cinnabar colored altar panel,19th Century, with 2 beautiful, separate gilt relief wood carvings, one cicular and the other rectangular. Size: height 18" x width 13.5". Overall good condition. Heavy as solid wood.

This is an early 20th Century cloisonne smoking set. Set includes a hinged cigarette or cigar box, an ashtray, and a matchbox holder. Some minor damage, but still considered in good original condition. The cloisonné design is of a boat which is somewhat hard to find.

The bronze plaque was in a scene of an ox fighting with a tiger and a snake.
The depiction was well done by excellent craftsmanship.
It was hollow casted.
Nice patina was preserved on the surface.
One side was squeezed.

Old hand carved wooden ink pad box circa first half 20th century. I think this is probably a Yao item, but as I purchased it in a Bai ethnic minority market in Yunnan, over 20 years ago, we’ll assume it is Bai. This has a floral pattern carved on the lid. The ink has long ago dried up. Nice natural patina. L: 7.2cm/2.9in x W: 5.8cm/2.3in x H: 3.2cm/1.3in.

Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Covered Jar

This attractive small covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is quite "heavily-potted" for its type and is coated inside and out in a pale Qingbai-type glaze. The glaze falls short of the sturdy foot and the underside of the cover also remains unglazed. The cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary...

It is made from a fairly highly-fired creamy-white pottery with features picked out in cold-painted red and black pigments. This rare and unusual painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Qi Dynasty (AD 550 - 577). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, very good traces of which still remain. Note the details of the clothing, the headgear, both tied with a bow, and the facial features...

Very rare early 20th century textile from the Mulao ethnic group Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province.
