Ancient Chinese Archaic Era bronze dou, footed vessel used to contain food. This traditionally dou vessel consists of two pieces. The larger piece is a circular bowl supported on a stem which gradually tapers downward and outward to form a round foot. And the lid which is a shallower round bowl on a shorter stem which is inverted and snugly fitted over the bottom bowl. Two ring handles are attached to the rim of the lower bowl on either side...

Tibetan thangka densely painted in gouache on cloth with a scene featuring the seven-tiered dark blue Mahottara Heruka, the wrathful form of the Buddha and principle wrathful diety of the bardo, depicted standing on a lotus throne with multiple heads, arms, and legs and surrounded by a flaming aureole in consort with Krodheshvari shown lying on a tiger’s skin. This form of jug called a monk's cap is of Tibetan origin. The model was adopted in China from the beginning of the 15th century and very appreciated. Monks' cap jugs were made of porcelain. They are always of good quality. The example presented here is made of thick bronze (yellow copper alloy). I don't think it's cast but rather hammered bronze.The border of the top in strong relief would indicate a cast bronze. But it is not certain...

This plaque must have been part of a scholar's screen. It is carved in a Duan stone of 2 layers of different colors. An ochre layer and a brown layer. The brown layer is carved in depth until the ochre layer appears. The decoration is thus cut in brown on an ochre background.Qing period 19° century or earlier. On the reverse side we can see the traces of the tool which should give indications for a more precise dating. Accident, broken and glued again. 206 x 302 x 8 mm
