Seated Sho-Kannon Bosatsu, the hands holding a stemless lotus bud, sculpted in relief from sandstone. Clearly dated to the second year of the Horeki Era (1752), mid-Edo Period. Excellent condition, with only very minor old loss and a small surface crack on the lower-front garment. Good lichen accumulation.

A superb 19th century hanging moon Vase of caramel bronze gilded inside entrrely with gold and enclosed in a custom kiri-wood period box titled Kara-kin Gekkei Hanaire (gilded Chinese-Bronze Vase). In this case the word Chinese does not indicate it being manufactured in China, but using a mixture of bronze based on Chinese origins. It is quite large at 14 inches (36 cm) diameter and comes with the original chain and insert for hanging and display of flowers...

A good, large murashido patinated bronze vase. Raised geese and irises decoration including some katakiribori details. The bottom may have been reversed when reattaching it at some later time. From inside the vase can be seen on the bottom a 16 petal chrysanthemum overlaid by Kashiwa (oak leaf) mon and on a bed of same - all in relief...

Antique Japanese two-section kiri (paulownia) tansu with interesting kakute (squared) iron handles paired with round locks on each of its drawers. A lovely Unusual picture frame made with Japanese cloisonne imagery of white chrysanthemums and cascading leaves in gradient shades of green upon a muted yellow/beige background. Japanese small Tansu, Merchant chest, box, late Meiji period, 18" high, 24" wide, 14" deep, Cyprus and Cedar wood, two(2) medium size drawers next to three(3) smaller drawers above one(1) long drawer on the bottom. Hardware is old black iron, shows some wear and tear, some rust, small broken pieces.

A set of 12 Kogo incense containers representing the 12 animals of the zodiac by Suwa Sozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden stacking-box. Each is roughly between 2 and 4 inches (5-10 cm). The Inoshishi (wild boar) has a small chip, otherwise all are in superb condition. In twenty years I have never seen a set like this and it certainly belongs in a museum...
