Distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl with a flaring mouth made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potters knife in its lower part and its brim. It dates back to the early Edo Period (1603-1868).

It is covered with a very deep black iron oxide glaze inside and outside. A 'window' on the side has been left unglazed and is decorated with two fish nets hung for drying...

Hokora shrine sculpted in three pieces from granite. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1700. Very minor old loss. Significant lichen accumulation, especially on the roof.

Originally employed as a symbolic dwelling for the ancestral deity of a family or clan, this hokora is highly unusual inasmuch as it includes a removable door.

Antique Japanese kannon biraki tansu of an unusual small size, made of Kiri (paulownia) wood. The front of the chest is covered in ornate iron hardware with studs. Itahi stupa, commonly referred to as an aoishitoba (lit. blue-stone stupa), in blue-green schist, a gorinto (5-tiered pagoda) sculpted in bold relief on the front surface. Clearly dated to the fourth year of the Bunroku Era (1595), Momoyama Period. Old loss to the upper perimeter; otherwise, very good condition, with desirable patination overall.
