$575.00 A portable vanity case of blackwood with all original hardware and mirror. It is in it's original condition as found. Age. Very early 19th century. Size: L. 27.5cm. W.20cm. H.10.8cm. Condition. No repairs. Mirror has some peeling of the silver backing around the edges, because of age. One handle knocker is missing and the lock has decomposed (common with these old pieces).Some old reinforcement strips on the front and inside.

SOLD. Seated Jizo Bosatsu, the hands forming the gassho mudra of adoration, sculpted figurally with rough-hewn simplicity from a grayish igneous stone. Early- to mid-Edo Period ca. 1700, possibly earlier. Dark-soot patination, particularly of the head, lower portion of the front, and entirety of the back, testifying to centuries of devotional usage during which a bib-type garment was draped around the neck, thereby partially shielding the stone from the smoke of burning candles and incense.

SOLD Antique Chinese mirror vanity box made of beautiful heavy hardwood. Inlaid with scenes of birds, flowers, and bamboo. Original brass hardware. The top is hinged and opens up to reveal a vanity mirror. A small cabinet underneath opens up to show a total of 6 small drawers of various sizes. Each door also has a compartment with a sliding panel for access from the top. Mid 19th Century. Very nicely detailed with original finish and condition.
