It's image is often used to protect the bearer from snake attack and it's poison. Nice naturally formed patina. Additionally (within the basket) is a small bound bundle of reeds or sticks. There is a small peg protruding from his right forearm (please view enlargement #12) indicating that something (possibly the bundle) might have been attached to it.
Carved on the base is an insect and the artist's signature, "Seimei".
