SALE:200.00(was 250.00) Japanese small Tansu, Merchant chest, box, late Meiji period, 18" high, 24" wide, 14" deep, Cyprus and Cedar wood, two(2) medium size drawers next to three(3) smaller drawers above one(1) long drawer on the bottom. Hardware is old black iron, shows some wear and tear, some rust, small broken pieces.

Sold, Thank you! A set of 12 Kogo incense containers representing the 12 animals of the zodiac by Suwa Sozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden stacking-box. Each is roughly between 2 and 4 inches (5-10 cm). The Inoshishi (wild boar) has a small chip, otherwise all are in superb condition. In twenty years I have never seen a set like this and it certainly belongs in a museum.

$395 DESCRIPTION: An unusual netsuke featuring an abalone shell crafted from wavy burl wood with an ivory lobster perched on top. The lobster’s curled antennas are made of metal, and on the underside of the shell a signature is etched into the wood. Early to mid 20th century in very good condition. DIMENSIONS: 1 ¾” long (4.5 cm).

As a reflection of this, archery equipment was beautifully crafted of formed bamboo, lacquer work, and leather strapping. Decoration of blooming cherry blossoms "sakura fabuki" accented in gold lacquer.
