This is a very nice Meiji vase from Meizan. It has excellent gold detail and enameling. It is even finished off at the inner top rim area with fine white enamel beads. The work rivals that from the Yabu Meizan factory and it is believed that some of the Meizan artists went on to work for Yabu Meizan. This beautiful 5 inch piece has slight wear to the gold but overall is in outstanding condition.

Gorgeous tall hardwood 20 Century hardwood cabinet possibly huanghuali with pierced decoration. Excellent detail shown in the carvings on all three sides. Antique Japanese Noh mask of the O-beshimi fierce deity, or mythical tengu. "Beshimi" means "mouth clamped shut". This mask is hand-carved from kiri wood, and inside you can see the chisel marks left behind by the artist. There are visible traces of white gesso in the crevices of the face, which was used as a filler to cover the wood grain. Edo period, 19th century Size: 9.5" tall, 7" wide

Circa 1900, a lovely Chinese porcelain box featuring a floral theme on all sides with engraved bronze or brass metalwork. In excellent condition including the hinge, this box measures 5" x 3.5" x 2.55".

This is a set of a vintage Japanese porcelain tea plate, which was made by a Human National Treasure, Kaiji Tsukamoto (1912-1990) about 40 years ago.

This legendary star potter was honored in 1983 with the most importend award "Living National Treasure/Japanese Human National Treasure.

Flowers are molded on the plate. The seal of his kiln is stamped on the bottom.

A truly extraordinary print of the streets of Tokyo by Japanese Shin-Hanga artist Tsuchiya Koitsu circa August of 1939. Two women, both wearing beautiful blue kimonos, walk in the rain holding parasols. The streets are colored a purple/mauve as the rainwater reflects the light of lanterns from inside of a nearby shop, trees rise above buildings, and despite the depicted weather conditions, this is a very colorful scene. An exquisite Japanese silk haori with a wintery skiing scene featuring tickets from Tokyo to Akaura and from Kyoto to Ibuki. Made of habutae silk a with woven lining, it can be worn or displayed with either side facing outward. The outside is solid black with 5 mons (family crests).
