Wonderful Indian bronze altar with the Hindu god Vishnu flanked by two female consorts, the three figures stand together on a raised platform with the four armed Vishnu in the center, a many headed naga (cobra snake) opens it's hood like an umbrella over Vishnu's head, a flat nimbus behind the figures depicts tendrils of water flowing from the mouths of two makara. Southern India. 19th century. Size: 11 1/2" high x 9 1/2" wide x 4" deep.

Antique Chinese bronze Ding on three feet. Formed with sloping lines and dramatic spikes, Ming Period jade finial in the form of a seated dog. The bronze has a large Xuande mark on the bottom.

Here we offer another Japanese tea kettle from our collection. It is a cast iron relief tetsubin from the late Edo Period. It is signed by the unknown artist. It has a tasteful design.

Inside is some rust but no water leak. Great atmosphere. A real antique tetsubin.

Japanese fune bako, or ship safe box, made from keyaki wood with its original lacquer. The top of the box has iron hinges and a warabite handle, which opens for storing calligraphy stones. The front has three drawers, one with a large iron lock.

Seated Jizo Bosatsu with hands in the gassho mudra of adoration, figuratively sculpted from tuff, an igneous stone composed primarily of volcanic ash. Late-Edo Period ca. 1825. Very minor old loss, with surface pitting and softening of the lines and contours overall. Excellent lichen accumulation.

A lovely Chinese porcelain vase featuring a pair of birds sitting on rock with 3 young birds flying above. In excellent condition, no chips, no hairlines, no cracks. It measures 13 3/8 inches high. Mark on bottom. Poem on side.

This is a large fine Japanese cloisonne vase from Gonda. The wireless work is beautiful. The use of the subtle yellow tones behind Mt Fuji are an exquisite touch. We have had several of the small vases like this but never one this large or this quality from Gonda. The vase stands 7 1/4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is mounted with silver rims and the condition is outstanding.

A superbly crafted free standing image of a Heron standing high on a rocky outcrop, balanced on one leg, the other curled up tightly in its feathers. It is made in dusted silver, likely over a bronze body. The form is expertly crafted, incised with a fierce expression showing awe for the power of nature and its inhabitants. Keen eyes scan the river for fish, and the horizon for predators. Worn, we have had the original bolt fixing him to the rock bored and replaced. It is in fine condition, ...

A pair of hanging scrolls depicting the gods of wind and thunder: Futen or Fujin on the left and Raiden or Raijin on the right. Ink and colors on silk. Both signed Soseki saku and each with two seals, one of which reads Soseki as well. Japan. Late Meiji or Taisho era.
