This was made in Amagi area in the Meiji era. This cotton was spun by hand. This Shibori was dyed with an indigo plant of nature. A fabulous Japanese cloisonne vase purchased from the 1893 Chicago Exhibition. Inside the vase is an old decaying leaflet given to the buyers by the exhibitors. An unusual underglaze blue Chinese cricket jar with charming scenes of a scholar in garden settings. The condition is very good without chips, cracks, or hairlines. Dating circa 1900, it measures 5" across x 3.5" high.

Wooden sculpture of an old man and woman taking a break from the rice harvest. They are sitting on an elevation. He is preparing his pipe, taking tobacco out of his tonkotsu. She is getting out a lunch box and two tea cups, while the tea kettle is at her feet. Behind them a sheaf of rice and two sickles. Perhaps a modern reference to Jo and Uba, the old couple on the island Takasago who symbolize longevity.

A stunning pair of gold gilt mirror image cloisonné hat stands. Japanese painting circa 1880 of two warriors carrying torches titled "Soga Turo Sukenari and Soga Goro Tokimasa", based on the 13th century tale in which two brothers avenge their deceased father during the Gen Pei wars. A superb Indian statue of a pair of Hindu deities with different attendants set near the deity. The couple might be the deities Shiva and Parvati with their child, Ganesha. A small size antique bronze Hindu deity possibly depicting the deity, Bhodevi or Sridevi. The deity is holding a lotus bud like flower and is dressed in the traditional manner as many of the Hindu deities are seen. 19th-20th century. Size: length 1.75" width 1.5" height 5.5"

A Ming dynasty blue and white small vase with slightly high shape mouth rim and decorated with continuously flower scrolls to the body. Late Ming 16th/17th century. Condition is good, only found a tiny flake chip to inner mouth rim and tilt mouth rim, otherwise is perfect. Height: 9.3cm.
