It shows a rare high quality bronze, very heavy, solid and shiny with rests of gilt. The statue is our property since 1938 and was exhibited in our private home since that time. Sold. The female immortal "He Xiangu" depicted as a dancer with wafting dress. Cast in bronze with partial gilding. Dating to the 16th or early 17th century. Please refer to a complete set of the "baxian" in the Musee Cernuschi catalogue, Paris: "Bronzes de la Chine imperiale", pages 154-155. Condition: apparently one foot lost but standing quite firm, please look at pictures carefully, they make part of the condition report. Dimension: 11. 7 cm high, weight: 196 g.

SOLD. Daikokuten and Ebisu, two of Japan's 7 Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin), sculpted figuratively from a relatively heavy gray-brown igneous stone. Mid-Edo period ca. 1750. Minor old loss, with softening of the lines and contours overall. Light lichen accumulation.
Daikokuten: Ebisu: Paired sets of Daikokuten and Ebisu in stone are uncommon; this set is uncommonly charming. Outstanding.
