Sold. Thank you. Three gods of fire which are unglazed earthenware made of clay. Fire has been thought as sacred and gods of fire have been put near furnaces, cooking stoves (kamado) and open fireplace (irori) for protecting from disasters and uncleanness. It is not clear where they are from, probably Tohoku district. All in good condition, no chip or crack.19th century. Height:20cm, Width:11 to 12cm

sold, thank you There is a lot of drama and tension between the various facets of this ash encrusted Shigaraki outcrop by Furutani Kazuya enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shigaraki Mentori Hanaire. (Faceted Vase). Every angle offers a unique view, texture, glazing, form, a vase which you can never grow tired of. I see it with an angular branch of plum blossoms, or perhaps Nandina loaded with red berries. It is 33 cm (13 inches) tall and in excellent condition, directly from the artist.

A large single old pine stem and branched painted in ink and color, on silk, described, signed and two seals “小琳, 趙錫晋.
This painting dedicated to Mr. Reid for his birthday gift, 1952.
It is in very good condition but has some wears and a crease,
it measures 37cm x 130cm painting only, or 48.5cm x 188cm overall.

Snow at the Silver Pavilion (Ginkakuji no yuki) Date: 1951. Publisher: Watanabe Shozaburo. Black 6 mm seal at lower left, indicating a first edition (1946-57). Hasui signature and seal at lower left. Size: Oban. 15.25 x 11.25 inches. Reference: Hotei #560. Medium: Japanese woodblock print. Condition: Back margins have tape residue. Two small bumps at lower margin edge repaired by conservator. Slight fading.

sold, thank you Fish and water plants in blue with a crab in black decorate this vase by master of the subject Ono Bakufu enclosed in the original Tomobako wooden box from the Sosen Gama titled Sometsuke Kabin signed and sealed inside by Bakufu. The vase is 27 cm (roughly 11 inches) tall, 16.5 cm (6-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

sold, thank you An amazing small wooden figure covered in with glass eyes made in the hyper-real likeness of a Rakugo-shi Comic storyteller, dressed I traditional Hakama trousers and seated on a large cushion clutching a fan in his right hand.
It is 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) tall, while the cushion upon which he sits is 19.5 x 15.5 cm (just under 8 x 6 inches) and the figure is in excellent condition. There is what appears to be a signature on the bottom; Ta?Saku. This caring is very much in the audacious style...

Statue of Buddha Amithaba or Amitayus, wearing an unusual diadem, jewelry and dhoti, sitting cross-legged on an elevated throne backed by a flaming mandorla, holding the elixir of immortality in his hands. Bronze, with a fine reddish-green patina. This statue is a Sino-Tibetan work, dating late 18th century/early 19th century. Height: 18.5 cm. Very good condition. Provenance: acquired from a Hong Kong antique dealer in 1978.

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Twin Fish Dish (Ex. Lammers Collection)
This dish, or shallow bowl, was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 – 1279). It has a moulded decoration featuring, in its centre, two fish swimming amongst waves. The two fish are an emblem of harmony and a happy marriage. The bowl is coated in a greenish Qingbai type of glaze. This unusual porcelain bowl was made during the 12th - 13th century. The inner surface is moulded into six panels. It is coated in a very finely-crackled qingbai glaze that is pale green with just a hint of blue. The rim remains unglazed as does the flat base. Diameter 15.75 cm.
