An antique Japanese Tansu chest from the Tohoku region of Japan used for merchant organizing and storage. Made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods and finished using a wiped lacquer technique. 14 drawers total with the bottom two having lock plates where valuables were kept away from prying hands.

Kakute style handle pulls with Tohoku lock plates designating its origins. A functional chest where merchant wares could be easily stored and retrieved.

An antique Japanese Tansu chest from the Matsumoto region of Japan made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware. Lock plates feature an incised Kiri (Paulownia) leaf Mon (family crest) and drawer pulls fashioned in the Mokko design with elaborate back plates. Upper section has 3 drawers and lower section has 2 drawers used to safely store valuable silk kimonos.

Stunning mid 20th century emulation of a fan painting depicting a mouse eating lychees. A very rare Guanyao Official ware bottle vase with crackles glazed around the body, covered overall with greyish tone celadon glazed. Extremely rare blue and white Guan Jar with middle size, decorated with Phoenix's flight among clouds scroll flanked by Ruyi scroll with horizontal a pair of Lizard climbing to the shoulder and classic scrolls around the body. It's very rare to found the Lizards on the shoulder, the first time I handle with the special motif such like it. Well-sooted Japanese wood carving buddhist statue enshrined at Goma-do hall (the place for *Goma holy firing ceremony) of a certain buddhist temple in Fukushima for long years, circa late 19th – very early 20th century. Total height with pedestal : 22.9 cm (9.01in). Still strongly remains that smoky smell, so please refrain from ordering it if you care.
