Chinese Northern Qi Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure

This painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Qi Dynasty (AD 550 - 577). It is made from a pale grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. Note the detail to the clothing, the long-sleeved robe, and the hair style. The facial features are particularly good - he is surely smiling!

Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure (Drummer)

This painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a pale grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. This figure is a soldier who also has a drum at his waist. In the right hand is the rusted stub of an iron pin, possibly part of the original drum stick. Note the detail to the clothing and head gear.

Chinese 19th Century Enamelled Porcelain "Double Happiness" Jar

This attractively-shaped and decorated porcelain jar dates to the 19th century, the latter part of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912). The decoration comprises a cloud collar surrounding the mouth, lotus panels around the base, and between these a variety of floral and blossoms sprays in a wide range of coloured enamels, interspersed with the "double happiness" character...

This rare blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the 16th century. It is decorated in underglaze blue with an unusually varied design and coated in a finely-crackled glaze. The pattern around the outer wall includes a varied landscape, figures sitting in a boat, a standing figure and a horse and rider. The inner pattern features a figure, possibly an immortal, sitting in a varied landscape.

Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - Birds in Prunus Tree

This blue & white porcelain bowl was made at the Jingdezhen kilns during the early to middle 16th century (c.1505 - 1566). It is relatively "heavily-potted" and decorated in an unusual pattern on both sides featuring a bird in a prunus tree, this being a symbol of life. Within the centre of the bowl is a fairly simple design of prunus branches.

Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl with Mark

This blue & white porcelain bowl was made in the late 16th to early 17th century, the Late Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). The decoration to the outer wall features branches of prunus blossom (a symbol of life) whereas the inside is decorated with the peony (representing riches, love and feminine beauty). The four-character mark to the base translates as Made in the Great Ming Dynasty.

A 17th century Chinese blue and white porcelain brushpot (bitong). Waisted cylindrical form raised on ring foot. Blue underglaze literati decoration of two figures on boat in landscape. Transitional between late Ming dynasty and early Kangxi period, Qing dynasty. A star crack on the bottom with old repair (see enlargement images from bottom and interior) and a small, tight hairline from the rim (also imaged). Otherwise good condition. Height, 5 7/8 inches. Rim diameter, about 4 1/16 inches.

A small 17th century Chinese scholar's bronze water pot with matching spoon. The water pot is cast in the form of a goose, its head turned over its back, its feathers and wings picked out in relief and incised with swirls and other abstract designs.
