This "heavily-potted" cover for a large jar was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) or possibly the Ming Dynasty. Chinese Han Dynasty Green Glazed Pottery Cover (for a jar)

Many Han Dynasty pottery jars are known although a small percentage of them still retain their covers. Here we have a cover made during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220). It has an interesting moulded pattern of hills or mountains combined with geometric patterns. It is made from quite a high-fired reddish pottery, coated in a finely-crackled green glaze. This pottery model of a standing ox, or bull, was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from quite a high-fired creamy-white pottery that has been coated in a golden-yellow glaze that is very finely crackled.
