This is a traditional Qing Dynasty woman's skirt. A nice and rare of blue and white square jar, decorated with four kinds of flower, these are a Chrysanthemum blossom, Ruyi scroll, Lotus pond and black berry lily blossom, all the leafy extended to the top. Two scrolls handle attached to the top as well, unglazed flat base firing to reddish orange peel till later period of Ming Hongwu example, but still transparent when we look under the daylight or strong light. A nicely shaped plate with floral design with bat and peach motif painted on the underside for good luck. Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nyonya ware. Nyonya wares were mainly reserved for festive occasions and special functions. Size: 19.5 x 13.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal wear.
