Beautiful Antique Japanese koruri dans also known as an apothecary tansu. Made from kiri and sugi wood, with one hundred and two small drawers! Each inscribed with the name of a herb/medicine that was to be stored in slotted compartments. There are two thin drawers at its center bottom with flower shaped handle backs and two larger drawers at either side. Each drawer has a round black iron handles.

An exquisite deep blue covers the dark iron-rich clay of this Shino Vase by Kato Toyohisa enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ash Purple “no” Glaze Vase. Here he plays with sound, substituting the character for purple (shi) for the usual character Shi in Shino. It is 11-1/2 inches (28 cm) tall and in excellent condition.

Japanese hibachi, or brazier, made of an attractive wood exterior and inlaid with flowers and overlaid with gold macho-e lacquer. Remnants of ash on the interior add to its charm. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). Original finish and condition. Size: 9.5" H x 14" W

Japanese antique okimono carved of boxwood in the form of a lovely lady standing with an octopus. A whimsical scene with the lady holding the "nose" of the octopus who in return is sneaking his tentacle up her kimono. Wonderful attention to detail can be seen in the weaving of the basket behind the two figures as well as in the suction cups of the tentacles and the fashionable Edo Period knot in the woman's long hair. Unsigned. Edo Period. Size: 2 1/2" high x 2" wide.

The handle is made with natural burly wisteria branches. Many baskets where not signed due to the individual "style" each basket had. One could view a basket and know who the artist was. Antique Japanese large woven ikebana basket, used for artistic flower arrangements. The basket body has an open flat plate with woven geometric design. Chiku'unsai is known for adding natural found objects as shown of gnarled bamboo handle. He allows us to see the beauty in this state. The wide, flat foot is signed on the bottom "Chiku'unsai"

Antique Japanese ikebana (flower arranging) basket of a very tall, slender form. The body is woven in criss-cross patterns with slim, tightly woven accents at the top and very middle. The inside has a slim bamboo container. Bottom is signed "Kazutomi". Size: 23" H x 5.5" W

Antique Japanese two-section tansu in gorgeous original Keyaki (hardwood) with original lacquer finish, with red lacquer top and sides. Iron hardware of a rosy tone adorns each corner and drawer front, such as kakute (squared) shape handles and fleur de lis style locks. Side safe box holds two small drawers within for small treasures. The tansu sits on a custom stand. Key is included. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 37" H x 33.5" W x 17" D

This is Kyogen Hakama which the child of the rich civilian of Kyoto used for the Meiji period. This has the crest that Kyogen is characteristic of the part of the waist. As for this, the whole is dyed with an indigo plant by Katazome. This has several places of thin dirts. And this has several places of extremely small holes. As for this, cotton is thin. Kyogen Hakama of the child is very rare. Size 85cm x 56cm (33.4 "x 22")

Antique Japanese chose tansu also known as a merchant chest. Made with solid kiri (paulownia) wood. Every drawer has decorative locks and iron hirute shaped handles. Two sliding opens open to reveal a roomy storage compartment. Bottom safe box has three small doors within. Meiji period (1868-1912) Size: 31" H x 31" W x 16" D

Charming Antique Japanese complete original set of 20 blue and white porcelain bowl. Swirling geometric designs decorate the inner edges with a center image of pine trees. Beautiful Japanese inro with a swimming highly detailed koi fish on each side. Each koi is delicately carved out of tortoise shell with glass eyes and details in gold lacquer. The body of the info is original lacquer in gold with with gold details and raised tendrils of water. 4 individual pieces (3 compartments), signed on bottom "Kyushi", Edo Period Early 18th century. Original condition. Size: 2 3/4" high x 2 5/8" wide 3/4" thick

This is tsutsugaki & handwriting fireman's cotton coat sashiko hanten coat of a splendid firefighter of the late Tokugawa period of the Edo era(1800-1867). A fight of kawanakajima is a design. It is a very high technique. A samurai (takeda shingen and uesugi kenshin) and a horse are drawn and are also the uplifting feeling and the excitement which seem to begin to move shortly. And there is sashiko stitch on the entire surface by hand. As for it, length is longish with 92cm...
