SOLD Antique Japanese 2-section todana tansu, comprised all of Keyaki (elm) wood, with stunning, bold natural burl front panels with original, warm finish. Simplistic design with minimalistic hardware. Its two lowest sets of sliding door panels hold spacious shelved storage room within, while the top holds an open space. A small lift-away panel with an eggplant shaped handle adds a subtle touch of charm.

Sold, With thanks! A whimsical koro by Takauchi Shugo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled oribe Koro. It appears to dance, two arms up in the air with the music, a slight jaunt in its three legged step. It is 11 inches (28 cm) tall and in excellent condition.

sold One of a kind! Wonderful Chawan made by the most famous monk of Japan, Shimizu Kosho (Kōshō), with a painting of the kanji 'Hana' (flower) on it. Shimizu Kosho named this unique tea bowl 'HANA-GOKORO' (heart of the flower). It comes with the originally signed and sealed wooden box of this most famous buddhistic monk. This tea bowl is made of clay of the Kagura-Gama-kiln, which is famous for folk craft style pottery. The kiln has a deep relationship with great potters like Shoji Hama... Statue of Buddha Amithaba, in monk's robes, sitting on an elaborate lotus throne, his hands in meditation posture ("abhaya mudra"). Gilt bronze. China, Qing Dynasty, early 19th century. Height: 24.5 cm. Old accident (restored) on the left side of the top of the head, otherwise very good condition.

SOLD Antique Japanese Funa Tansu (ship safe chest) in original red lacquer Urushi finish. With heavy black iron fittings, a top handle for carrying. The front hinged door plated in iron, incised with Kiri leaf and peony designs, the side lock incised with mushrooms. The interior holds five drawers of varying size with pull handles. Included with a copy of antique certification from Oct. 17 1973.

SOLD Antique Japanese two-section gifu choba tansu (accountant's chest) made with Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) wood. The top section has two sliding doors with slats, and an open compartment inside with two drawers. The bottom section has an open storage compartment behind another pair of sliding doors, with five drawers and a lock safe.

Finely potted porcelain dish with milky white glaze, the broad border moulded with ruyi heads. The center with fine depiction of a kirin, painted in green enamel, iron red and some gold. Very large Japanese Taisho to early Showa period cloisonné enamel wide shouldered vase tapering to a narrow base decorated with a dense assorted floral spray on the front and a single flower to the back all set against a dark blue ground.
