The glaze on this sculpted form by The Bear of Echizen Kumano Kuroemon (also Kurouemon) is covered in the most fantastic crustations of glaze. Thick white over scarred red over shatterd black on an unconventional shape the artist has titled marukawara (round tile). It has Tomo everything, Artists history, wrapping cloth, with his ubiquitous calligraphy all over the signed box. The piece is 29 x 17 x 8 cm (11-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 3 inches) and is in perfect condition.

8 3/8" high Japanese treebark vase decorated on the front with a landscape motif. Tree-bark (Jitaisome Jippo) is a form of ceramic cloisonne in which the colors are done using lacquer rather than enamel. A rare, finely decorated, late Ming twin-handled bronze vase which still retains traces its original gilding. Standing Jizo Bosatsu with hands in the gassho adoration mudra, figurally sculpted from a relatively lightweight sedimentary stone composed largely of volcanic ash. Dated to the 12th year of the Kyoho Era (1727), mid-Edo Period. Old loss, most notably around the base; traces of original polychrome; lichen accumulation.

A charmingly expressive example of Japanese folk sculpture, with good age.

The glass snuff bottle shows the four sea-dragons swimming in the sea. This probably represent the four seas.Each of the dragon have four claws which represents royalty but not imperial. The colour of the snuff bottle is of dark orange colour. The base has a honorific Qianlong mark to the base. Cir. late 19th century, likely to be dated to the Guangxu (1875-1908) period.
