Sold to Hong Kong - February 2011 售至香港 - 2011年2月 A bombe form bronze censer finely carved with four winged mythical animals and two fish. The base carries a Xuande reign mark but this item was made later, probably circa 1795-1850 during the reign of the Jiaqing or Daoguang emperors. Condition - very good - this item had been polished when we acquired it about eight years ago but is now regaining its patination; there are no damages or losses. Dimensions - 23cm (9inches) wide; 8cm (3.2inches)high. Weight 1.7kg (3.8lb).

Sold to China - January 2011 售至中国 - 2011年1月 A large, heavy and very finely cast bronze censer (incense burner) with good old patination. The base carries the six-character reign mark of the Xuande emperor but this item was made later during the 17th or 18th Century. Condition - excellent. Dimensions - 24cm (9.5inches) wide; 14cm (5.5inches) high. Weight 4.4 kilos (9.7 pounds).

Sold to UK - August 2011 售至英国 - 2011年8月 A 16th/17th Century eight-sided bronze censer (incense burner) made in China during the late Ming dynasty (circa 1550-1644). Condition, very good - two of the feet have been secured by rivets one with an associated split and there is a small 0.8cm long thin gap below the rim - all possibly dating to the time of manufacture (please view enlargements 7,8 and 9). Dimensions - 14cm (5.5inches) across; 8.5cm (3.3inches) high.

$425.00 1) Stoneware incense box or kogo in the shape of an onna daruma (female daruma). She sits in the typical way, all rolled up in her garment, indicating that arms and legs may have fallen off. Her face shows striking similarity to Okame. Cream colored and reddish brown glaze over whitish soft clay, the face left partially free, fine crackle in the glaze. Japan, Meiji period.

From our Japanese Collection, a superb and large satsuma lidded jar / tea caddy by Ryozan, Meiji Period 1868-1912, stunningly executed with exceptional fineness depicting two cartouches of people gathering, alternating with two cartouches of ducks and birds in nature scenes, all separated and framed by intricate brocaded reserves of floral motifs using wonderful color variation and extensive gilt.
Size and Condition: A relatively large caddy at 7 1/4 inches tall, 6 1/8 inches wide. From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine and large Thai Rattanakosin bronze Buddha, early-to-middle 19th century, depicting Buddha with both hands raised shoulder level with palms forward in Ham Samut mudra, also known as "Calming the Waters" or "Calming the Ocean" mudra. Buddha is wearing regal attire here with traditional tall crown and body jewelry that is elaborately inset with lacquer and glass adornments. Gilding retention is relatively high on this example. By characteristic Chinese scenes of pagoda, plum trees, Qilin and the figure riding through the water waves, the picturesque scene was well carved and chiseled by excellent craftsmanship.
