Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Chinese are very fond of creating ink stones out of “found objects” such as roof tiles etc...

Good representation in the style of Lin Rongqian’s cursive calligraphy, as a Mandarin: Fu Lu/Cantonese: Fuk. This is a gift given to someone to congratulate them and wish them financial success in their career. This is a scroll mounted painted meant to be hung horizontally. There are small tabs in the upper side with which to do so. Mounted- L: 150cm/59in and W: 60cm/23in.

The water pot is cast in the form of a goose, its head turned over its back, its feathers and wings picked out in relief and incised with swirls and other abstract designs. The casting is quite good and it has a wonderful patina overall. Measures 2.75" long x 2" high.

Delightful Qing Dynasty café au lait glazed water dropper in the shape of a fish in a basket, it is quite heavy for its size and the brown glaze has a strong metallic patina possibly emulating bronze. Most likely from a Southern Kiln, in perfect condtion! D: 5.7cm/2.2in and H: 7.2cm/2.8in.

Pair of wood block prints by Niu Wen Yue, Weifang Shandong, Painting and Calligraphy Academy circa 1960 to 1970. Capturing the feeling of the seasons, the first one is titled Spring Song- depicting a somewhat bucolic and optimistic view of rural socialist life and the second is Night Wind- bringing in the laundry before the rain hits. $2,500.00 Antique Chinese scroll painting showing arrangements of chrysanthemums in baskets by the artist, Li Fengting 李楓廷 (1884-1967).
Li was born in Dongguan (in Guangdong province). He received his first lessons in poetry and painting from his father. He soon set up his own art school and sculpture workshop and was a master craftsman. He also specialized in seal-carving and connoisseurship in ancient jade and bronze wares... A small Chinese huanghuali brush-pot, bitong,of slightly waisted form. Qing dynasty, circa 18th century. Old chips to the foot. 11 cms.
Lovely traditional brush and ink painting of a lady This is signed DENG FEN 鄧芬, but is probably a later copy of his work. Apocryphally dated 1943 this was hand done in the later part of the 20th century. Backed on mounted on silk paper total dimensions are 100cm/39.5cm x 40cm/15.8in.

For one piece, there are three bear-shaped feet were decorated. It was a characteristic decoration for wares of Han Dynasty. And the grind stone was also decorated on the surface with geographic patterns which representing the daoist astronomy。 For another piece, it was in plain form without foot. Diameters with feet: 18cm,(another 12cm) Height:4.3cm,(another 3.3cm). Date :Han Dynasty, (206 BCE – 220 CE)

Stunning mid 20th century emulation of a fan painting depicting a mouse eating lychees. The apocryphal seals say that this was housed in the “Imperial Library of Qianlong”, “Room of Three Rare Treasures” unfortunately we cannot decipher the artists seal. Painted and mounted on silk, there is some foxing in on the backing as well as a couple of minor creases- needs to be framed with new matting, but would look beautiful with a little effort...
