The letter is addressed to a Mr. Fu Wen and discusses about an exhibition and several works of art that Xu Beihong was expressing his congratulations to the person he was writing to. A beautiful and well made scholar's screen made of blackwood and having the original marble insert. Most of the marble in early pieces have been replaced. The frame for the marble has a key fret design. The base has carvings of two peaches, representing longevity, and the peony for prosperity. Age: Early 19th century. Size: H. 64cm. W. 43.5cm. Condition: No repairs, all original, age crack on the marble, common for it's age.

This is a very old classical chinese painting probably from Ming or earlier, but badly damaged and restored with old gold paper in the last century

A marble scholar water basin was preserved in perfect condition.
Well hollowed, the water basin was in nice oval and flat form.
Some ink residue was left inside the basin.

Chinese yellow Crackle ware Pottery Brush Washer and brush Holder, Ca. pre 1920, 1 5/8" high-maximum measurement, 2 3/4" wide,1 3/4" deep-maximum measurement, with crackled yellowish beige color glaze, a high relief frog beside rock garden on the top next to a round hole 3/8" diameter to hold a single brush. This crackle ware Brush Washer has glaze crack and few glaze flake frits on the glaze.

Chinese Conch Shell shape Sancai Monochrome three colored Ceramic Brush Washer with a green Frog resting on top of the Conch Shell and drinking and swallowing brush washer water out of conch shell dish, Ca. 19th century, late 1800's, 2 3/4" high-maximum measurement, 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" wide. The opening of the shell is 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" wide. The Sancai glaze is beautifully spread out with few firing glaze cracks about 1/2" to 1/4" long...

A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class.
