SOLD A painting of a lovely young maiden, she is depicted from the waist up in the nude, her head slightly tilted and eyes looking off to the right. She wears her long black hair up in a low bun gathered at the nape of her neck. She is smiling slightly. Skillfully painted in oil colors on canvas with frame. Signed and dated by the artist. Painted by the well known Chinese-American artist, Chen Danqing, 1984.

$940 DESCRIPTION: A good Chinese scholar’s brushpot, carved in deep relief with a continuous mountain landscape scene framed by gnarled pine trees and depicting two groups of scholars, some examining a scroll and others in a boat. The base and rim are encased in hardwood and the pot is engraved with a two line inscription. Very good condition, latter Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: 6 ½” high (16.5 cm) x 6” diameter (15.2 cm).
A very rare and large rootwood scholar's rock. China, 19th century. H. 37,5 cm (excluding stand. Condition: Beautiful wear and patina, there is a crack in the upper hanging branch (see pictures) but it has not been broken or restored. This piece comes with a beautiful antique hongmu (redwood) table. Provenance: Dutch private collection.

The long black bristles are attached to a bulbous ferrule with the handle carved in a design reminiscent of bamboo leaves. She holds in her left hand a small jar filled with pure water, and in her right the branch of a willow tree. She stands barefoot on the head of a dragon, with a white parrot carrying long beads in its mouth flying overhead.
