The spherical body consisting of two hemispheres, locked together by a bayonet fitting. Each half reticulated with five roundels, two of them stylized shou characters and inlaid with floral motifs in mixed metal. The insert of ring gimbals with the central bowl is missing. Please compare with Sothebys sale "Later Chinese Bronzes from the Collection of Ulrich Hausmann" on 08 October 2014 in Hong Kong. A beautiful Chinese unmounted scroll painting of a pair of beautiful women seated under pine trees. One of the women is playing an instrument called a guzheng. Signature and chop of Jingzhe Cui (born 1980).

A seated CLOISONNE ELEPHANT which can secretly be used as a storage jar (perfect safe/hiding place for valuables!), 19th Century, China. Striking designs and colors, excellent workmanship. Good overall condition. Head and Ears removable. The lid can be put on the jar rim prior to mounting the head and ears to conceal it completely from view. Size: 11.5" ( 29 cm.)

An unused Chinese civil 5th rank silver pheasant (baixian) badge in original paper wrapping. Background is black silk with a border of bats and the “shou” character. Eight Buddhist symbols are featured with the endless knot having been created using the forbidden stitch. Made for the front of a woman's surcoat, this rank badge is in excellent condition, measures 12", and dates late 19th century.

A pair of deeply carved Chinese cinnabar lacquer trays, with flower petal edges, the surfaces carved with foliate imagery such as peaches, pomegranates, citron, persimmon, and berries. Similar pieces can be seen from the 15th/16th century. Most likely this pair dates from the early 20th century.

Mirror pair of Chinese Republic period porcelain fanghu form vases decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground with a continuous scene featuring three figures at the gate of a traditional building. A compound wall extends around the narrow side to end with leafy plants among rockery at the back. The edge of the gate with foliage and rockery is on the opposite narrow side. A realistically formed figure of a resting sheep. The sheep is the eighth Chinese zodiac sign. The hollow form has two glazes - an overall straw-colored clear glaze with a drizzle of amber glaze that drips over its left side. The glazes have now turned iridescent from age - the amber glaze has a golden sheen...
