Here is one of the most important chawans of our collection: rounded wan shaped tea bowl with high foot of the bamboo node style in the typical O-Ido shape. The light, little coarse clay with enclosures is expertly thrown and full glazed - with the exception of the foot - with a transparent glaze of wood ash with some feldspar over a white engobe - in the style of Korean kohiki chawan (unglazed area on the outer wall is a typical feature found on many kohiki chawans).

A massive Shigaraki Tsubo by Kanzaki Shiho enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Spectacular keshiki resulting from the combination of multiple kiln affects and textures. A very rare Chinese veneer huanghuali cabinet with the original marble inserts. The back of the cabinet still has the original fiber coating that was used during the Ming and early Ching Dynasties. This cabinet was most likely made during the transitional period from Ming to Ching. Age: Early 18th Century Size: H.189cm W. 126cm D. 63cm Condition: All original. The drawers are probably a replacement. Normal wear.

A very rare large four scene Ming jar (1368 - 1644 AD) with three panels depicting the three friends and an additional panel of a small animal, the moon and a mountain scene. Size: H. 56cm. W. 38cm. Condition: No repairs. Some loss of the glaze around the rim. "For his residence, earth was piled to form a hill and a hundred plum trees, which along with lofty pines and tall bamboo comprise the friends of winter, were planted."

An iconic work in pale white by Living National Treasure Tsukamoto Kaiji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hakuji Wakaba-mon Dai-zara (Footed white porcelain dish decorated with young leaves. The execution is breathtaking, so perfectly formed it demonstrates clearly the talent for which he was named a Living National Treasure. Seated Amida Nyorai, the Buddha of the Western Paradise, with hands placed centrally on the lap in the Amida jo-in concentration mudra, sculpted in bold relief from a brick-hued sedimentary stone. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1750. Minor old loss. Light lichen accumulation.

Chinese red glass bead necklace and are most likely beads from a Qing official's necklace. Size: 38cm end to end.

This antique Japanese Marquetry box is a good example of the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that marked the Japanese Meiji Period. The sides of the lid have scalloped opening which ease the removal opening of the box which was probably designed for glove storage. 10.5 x 3.5 x 3.75 inches

Antique Japanese solid ebony hardwood cha tansu, for storing and displaying tea ceremony articles. The top of the piece has a wide compartment behind two sliding panel doors, with two open shelves below. Its sides are carved with a reticulated honeycomb design. The bottom of the chest has two Persimmon burl sliding panels opening to a lovely shelved interior with foliate carved paneling and two small drawers.
