A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class. A very unusual piece that I've never seen before. Possibly this lamp was made as an advertising piece for a lamp shop, or maybe it was used in an opium kit. The foot has decorations in reliëf, covered with enamels. H. 25 cm (10 inch), D. 21 cm (8,5 inch). Condition: two minor chips to the enamel. The glass seems to be original.
