A finely carved boxwood image of a standing Luohan (Arhat), one of Buddha’s disciples. The figure is shown turned slight to one side while holding a wish-fulfilling scepter (ruyi) in the crook of his right arm. The carving is coated in a deep, transparent reddish lacquer. Qing, 18th cent. H 18.5 cm. With fitted, old Japanese storage box. Condition: Excellent with only one minor age crack caused by the drying wood.

Flowers of the four seasons blossom in a cacophony of color over the entirety of this Kutani vase signed from the pre-eminent Kaburaki (Kaburagi) studio dating from the opening of the 20th century. The imagery is exquisitely performed with over-glaze enamels on a sheer white ground. The vase is large at 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition, with some wear to the gold rim. Antique Chinese pair of carved wood display cabinets. Each cabinet has three large areas for display open from the front and sides and framed in elegantly carved scrolling leaf boarders. The lower sections have a pair of side-by-side drawers over a compartment opened by a pair of doors. Antique Japanese long table made out of a cashier's gate. Turned on it's side, this gate would have defined the area around the cashier's work space in a store. Now made into an attractive and useful piece of modern furniture. The slats of the gate can be seen on the sides as well as through the glass top which was added later. With six compartments for storage or display. Made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood and with it's original patina.
